Here at Metro Rod North East we decided to throw a Marie Curie Blooming Great Tea Party which was held on 22nd June 2017 at our offices in Morpeth.
Marie Curie were holding these tea parties nationally to raise money for people with a terminal illness. Marie Curie nurses work night and day, in people’s homes across the UK, providing hands-on care and vital emotional support. Their hospices offer specialist round-the-clock care. And they help people throughout their illness by giving practical information, support from trained volunteers and being there when someone wants to talk.
The girls in the office all decided to bake yummy treats to sell, from rocky road to lime drizzle cake we had it all! And the cakes certainly went down well. We invited friends, family, colleagues and local businesses in the surrounding area and the tea party was a great success, raising a total of £151.61 which Tricia (Metro Rod North East Managing Director) matched bringing the total from the day to £303.22.
Amy, the office manager had this to say regarding the event “It is great to work for a company that supports such brilliant causes, Marie Curie is a charity very close to my heart and everyone’s generosity was overwhelming. We managed to raise money and awareness for Marie Curie while eating cake! What more could you want?”
Keep checking in for more charitable events that Metro Rod North East are involved with in the future.
