As we continue to enjoy the beautiful summer, thoughts often turn to whether there will be a water shortage and indeed a hose pipe ban across our region. Well the current information is looking good, and a hosepipe ban is unlikely (famous last words) http://www.eadt.co.uk/news/anglian-water-hosepipe-ban-suffolk-essex-1-5585861
We all know that saving water is good, good for our household bills and also good for the environment. According to Anglian Water, here in the East we are below average on our water consumption at an average of 133 litres per day, the average consumption being 140-145 litre's a day.
Here are some wise words from Anglian Water about how to stay cool and save water during the summer https://www.anglianwater.co.uk/environment/how-you-can-help/using-water-wisely/summer-waterwise-tips.aspx
Top Tip: There is a scheme in place where you can top up your water bottle for free! All you need is the app to show the locations of the participating venues.https://www.refill.org.uk/get-the-refill-app/
So what else can your property benefit from whilst its so dry?
It is a good time of year to spruce up your guttering, checking for blockages caused by a build up of debris, repair leaking taps and check internal pipework too. Then outside the property its good to get your drainage system checked for damage. Tree roots will naturally grow towards a source of water. When water runs through a pipe, vapour escapes to the nearest cool soil surrounding the pipe. The vapour usually escapes from the pipe due to a crack or fracture in the pipeline, then the roots will grow towards the vapour. Once this has been established, the roots will then begin to grow inside the pipe. This will then decrease the amount of carrying capacity in the drains, putting pressure on the whole system, compromising the efficiency too. You may even experience other signs such as nasty smells, and poor flow or a change in your bills. If you suspect roots have caused damage to your pipes. We can send one of our qualified, experienced and friendly engineers to carry out a CCTV Survey.
CCTV Drain Surveys and Sewer Inspection
- iTouch Live CCTV inspection – Using iTouch Live, the data collected from site is streamed in real time for processing. In most cases, your inspection report has already progressed to the next step before our engineer has finished packing up his tools. With geography no longer a factor, our team of technical support managers are also able to provide instant technical assistance ensuring that even the most complex of cases is analysed efficiently. All of this means that we are able to conclude each of our inspection reports far more quickly than before, allowing us to closely evaluate the problem and report back to you on the most effective solutions to your problem. Each report can be delivered instantly through our live web portal, or should you prefer, we can still place a printed copy and a DVD in the post to you.
If further works is required following a CCTV survey, we can offer a selection of repair methods depending on the situation, such as No-Dig and Trenchless Repairs, Localised Structural Repairs (LSR's) and traditional methods such as excavation.
