The 5 Common Sings of Drain Damage
#1 Slow Draining Water
If you notice a slow draining toilet or sink this could indicate a blockage or damage to the actual pipes. Tree roots are a relatively common cause of damage which also results in slow draining water. The roots can grow into the pipes splitting them open and restricting the flow of water.
#2 Damp and Mould
When a drain becomes damaged chances are it might start to leak which may lead to damp and mould becoming visible on you walls, floors and ceilings due to the added moisture. You’ll want this to be looked at as soon as possible so that the damage to your home or business doesn’t worsen and threaten the structure of your property.
#3 Foundation Cracks
In cases where the damaged pipe lies beneath a building’s structural points, it is possible for cracks to appear in the building itself, for example across the floors or walls. While this is only likely if the problem has been left for a significant amount of time, it can seriously threaten the integrity of the building.
#4 Water Pooling
Water pooling around the base of your toilet, sink or shower is a sign that a pipe is damaged. When you try and flush water down the drain, the water can start to come out through the cracks in the system which is when we see water pooling.
#5 Dark Patches in Grass
Random patches of luscious or dark patches of grass may indicate that a sewage pipe is broken. Sewage can act as a fertiliser making the grass grow more than in other areas.
