We had a call out to a job in Llanfairpwllgwyn in Anglesey on the 8th November. During the visit our engineer was unaware that the Rickshaw challenge 2019 was on its way. They were cycling through the town on route to Portmerion. The roads were lined with supporters awaiting their arrival. The toilets that our engineer was busy unblocking were going to come in handy for the team and all of its supporters. So, it is a good job that here at Metro Rod we value ourselves on our first-time fix.
The Rickshaw Challenge
The team of 2019 had a newly modified trike for this challenge. The team had created an innovative solution. Therefore it enabled visually impaired and blind riders to take part in the challenge. A recumbent guide-trike, which fixes to the front allows steering and braking to be managed by a guide rider. Meanwhile a visually impaired rider pedals from the main driving seat of the trike.
A team of six young people and The One Show’s Matt Baker took on the eight-day challenge. Their challenge was to cycle 400 miles from Holyhead to London. The Hunter Foundation (THF) pledged to give 40p for every £1 donated by the general public to the Rickshaw Challenge. Thus, helping to make the public’s generous donations go even further in making a difference to young lives. Most importantly, we were very happy that we could help on this occasion and keep their amazing team on track for a successful ride.
