ZSL Whipsnade Zoo
Just a few miles from Metro Rod Bedford you'll find the amazing ZSL Whipsnade Zoo where in addition to all the usual, amazing events that run throughout the year, aspiring young vets can put their animal care skills to the test with Vets in Action, a fascinating role-playing experience for children.
Running from Saturday 15 February - Sunday 23 February, children will help examine and carry out treatments on soft toys – from monitoring a chimp’s heart to carrying out checks on a stranded seal, experiencing the huge variety of work carried out by the Zoo’s vets, vet nurses and zookeepers.
After the stethoscopes come off, a packed schedule of demonstrations and activities throughout the week will take families further inside the exciting world of ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.
A great value day out, Vets in Action is included in the Zoo entry price.
Sessions will be available from 10:30am-12pm and 2.00pm-3:30pm.

Mead Open Farm
At Mead Open Farm, there's something for children of all ages, from indoor play if it's a bit chilly, to a fantastic choice of outdoor activities for when the sun is shining!
Lambing is back this Half Term from 15th-23rd Feb! Meet adorable new-born lambs in the Lamb Nursery, watch our fleecy friends take their first steps and get up close to Bottle Feed the older lambs. MORE information here.
With many lambs expected this February, you might even be lucky enough to see one being born. It’s baaa-rilliant fun! Plus spend a whole day at the farm with their huge extended Indoor Play and GrainStore Kitchen Café.
Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Estate
Metro Rod Bedford are lucky enough to be located a stone's throw away from the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that is Dunstable Downs! Whether you are a keen dog walker or simply love to watch the colourful kites flying from the fantastic, dog friendly 'View Cafe', there's always loads going on up at the Visitors Centre!
