Metro Rod Assist with the New Swansea City Centre Multi-Million Pound Regeneration

First Stages of Swansea City Centre’s Multi-Million Pound Regeneration Goes Underground

Metro Rod Swansea will carry out drainage works as part of the preparations for Swansea city centre’s multi-million pound makeover.

Swansea City Centre

The draining specialists, based in Ystalyfera, have won the early contract to check the sewerage and water drainage systems in the car park to the rear of Tesco Superstore on Oystermouth Road - the site for a brand new development of shops and restaurants.

The drainage checks are required prior to any building work commencing in the area as part of the Swansea Central development.

Inspections are already underway. They include CCTV drain surveys and confined entry visual inspection and culvert checks using specialist crawler technology.

Curtins, the structural engineering firm working on the project, and Rivington Land, the council’s development manager for the Swansea Central site, appointed Metro Rod Swansea due to the scope of work previously completed and the range of specialist services available. This experience ensures that any problems encountered will be dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Ian Williams, Director of Operations for Metro Rod Swansea, said: “This is an exciting time for us with an expanding workforce and new franchise owners, so winning this preliminary contract has come at a perfect time. Obviously this project is massive for the region and every business wants to get involved and secure some work from it. We’re proud and excited to have been given the opportunity and we hope our skills and expertise in this sector will mean we become a trusted contractor for the ongoing works with this project.”

Metro Rod Swansea will produce and submit all initial inspection reports as soon as possible to ensure they do their bit in keeping the project on track and helping to bring these exciting new developments to the people of Swansea.
