Drain repairs can become costly if the damage is left unnoticed for too long, here are some common signs that there is damage to you drains so you know what to look out for.
Cracks in your drainage system can lead to leaks and possibly a collapsed drain if left unnoticed for too long. These are some of the signs you may experience if you have a damaged or collapsed drain so you can have it fixed quickly before it gets any worse.
Sign #1 Slow Drainage
Over time material and debris can build up in our drains and pipes which will lead to slow drainage, if you notice that this is happening slowly over an extended period it may indicate that there is a simple obstruction. However if there is a sudden change it may mean you have a collapsed drain, as this will produce a much larger blockage due to the amount of material, and it wont be possible to flush it out as you would a normal blockage.
Sign #2 Odours
Bad smells can surface for a number of reasons, including a build up of old food, fat, oil and grease, so you’ll want to try flushing it out first using one of the recommended home remedies. If the odours do not go after trying to flush them out it may be because there is a collapsed drain that cannot be flushed through.
Sign #3 Damp
If you notice water is seeping into your walls, floors and ceilings it will indicate that you have a leaking pipe somewhere, often due to cracks but it could be a more serious case of a collapsed drain, which could lead to more damage within your home so it’s good to have it checked out when you first notice it.
