If You Go Down To The Woods Today… We Will Unblock Your Drains… 24/7!

What's On?

There's so much to enjoy in and around the local countryside this summer. From Kite Festivals at Dunstable Downs, to Canal Festivals in Leighton Buzzard, there's something for everyone.

Thankfully, with Metro Rod Bedford looking after drainage and plumbing throughout the local area, blocked drains shouldn't affect your days out.

There is so much on offer throughout the summer holidays in our local area that there's no need to venture too far!

Ashridge this summer hosts a number of planned events, from art workshops for children, to licensed outdoor cinema nights for adults.

If you just want to take in the local beauty, why not enjoy a walk along the miles of marked footpaths. Dogs are welcome at Ashridge so you can enjoy woodlands bursting with colour as you walk your four legged friend. If cycling is your thing, you'll find there are many cycle tracks for you here too, including the Chiltern Cycleway.

Walking in the Ashridge Countryside

Visitors can get the most out of Ashridge on foot. Whether tackling our popular 17 mile boundary trail or just taking a short stroll, the Ashridge Estate is a place of space, fresh air and freedom.

There are over 80 miles of designated footpaths and bridle paths for walkers wishing to plan their own route. For those who want a simple marked route, the ancient tree walk and the woodland walk both start and finish at the Bridgewater monument (pictured below).

If you want to find out more about the area, there are guided walks with rangers taking place throughout the year, to give you an insight into the history, wildlife and management of this great estate.
Whilst you're relaxing and making the most of the local countryside, you can rest assured that Metro Rod are helping to keep the environment clean and safe by tending to any blocked drain emergencies in the three counties area!
Find out more about what's on at Ashridge here.

Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Estate

Dunstable Downs is an amazing place for walking too but if you bring along your four-legged friend, please be aware of the responsibilties attached to walking a dog in open countryside.

Summer is a particularly important time to keep your dogs under control on Dunstable Downs because there are ground-nesting skylarks there.

Skylarks are vulnerable and in decline so the National Trust is very careful to keep their habitat safe and make sure they are not disturbed. If they are, whilst they are nest-building, they may not continue and, unless they find somewhere else to try, it is possible they may not have chicks this season. So their decline could continue.

As well as some beautiful country walks on and around the downs, The Visitor Centre hosts a whole range of summer activities for children, from Kite Making to adventure areas to explore. It's worth having a chat with the friendly National Trust staff at the visitor centre to find out what's on.

You can find out more about activities at Dunstable Downs here.

We at Metro Rod are doing our bit to maintain our wonderful, local environment by unblocking drains that can cause floods, and highlighting the effects of putting grease, fat and wet wipes into the drainage system which cause huge fatbergs. You can contact us if you need us to deal with any blocked drains or cluttered gutters or to carry out a CCTV survey if required, so that you can relax and enjoy your local countryside this summer!

Whether you are a business or a household we’d be happy to help with your blocked drains.
