All you need to know about Pump Station Services

What is a Pump Station?

Metro Rod’s drainage engineers are fully trained to carry out all aspects of pump maintenance repair and servicing.

Pumping stations exist where waste from a building cannot reach the main sewer by gravity alone. These are specifically designed to handle and transport effluent waste. The pump station is generally positioned lower than the sewer system. In other words, a pump is required to direct the waste up towards the main sewer.

There are multiple pump station services. For example:

  • Emptying
  • Cleaning
  • De-Greasing
  • Maintenance
  • Repair
  • Submersible Pump Supply & Refurbishment

How do Pump Station Services Work?

When waste builds up and reaches a predetermined point, the pump will be activated. Subsequently, when activated the pump system will lift the sewerage through a pressurised pipe system. However, if this pump were to fail or break, the whole process could cease. Therefore, potentially causing floods, blockages, as well as an entire system breakdown.

Maintenance of Pump Station Services

A pump, like all forms of electro-mechanical appliances, requires careful maintenance. As a result, making sure that the pump is continuously working correctly. Consequently, they must undergo regular servicing and maintenance every 6-12 months to ensure that there are limited emergency breakdowns.

In conclusion, these could prove costly and disruptive to work and the general public.
