Let’s talk about looking after our environment, and what practices we follow here at Metro Rod in order to do our best ecologically, for our planet.
In all parts of our business, we try our best to stay as environmentally friendly as possible. A big part of that is through the waste management guidelines that we follow; as a drainage company, it is our job to make sure your systems and pipes are all perfectly clean and in working order, so you don’t have to worry about blockages and other issues. However, once we clean out all of the grime, oils, fats and debris, they still need to be disposed of, and that is where our determination to look after our planet comes in.
During many of our services, our tankers remove anything unwanted or damaging in your drainage, our team of highly trained engineers are then responsible of disposing the waste in the correct way. The removed sewage is taken to a licensed waste facility where it can be disposed of in the least detrimental way to the environment.
If a site has an interceptor, then it is an environmental regulation to get your interceptor checked and skimmed where necessary to remove the risk of oil pollution. All businesses with interceptors are independently audited and must be able to prove that they are ensuring that pollution incidents are avoided, and they are managing their waste disposal according to legal guidelines.
This is another service where our combination tankers do an excellent job; we offer a maintenance programme to all businesses with interceptors where we, attend the site, skim the oil and provide them with an Environment Agency Consignment Note.
We know that most businesses want to do their best when it comes to keeping our planet healthy and trusting a drainage company to dispose of wastage in the correct way is important to align with their own views and values. It is important to us as a company to make sure all of our customers feel completely assured that once we leave their premises, we follow through with our promise of disposing in the correct way.
All of our engineers are DBS checked and trained to the highest standards, their training certificates, along with our Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Insurance documents are all available of request.
