About Metro Rod (North East):

Metro Rod (North East) is run by franchise owner Tricia Craig. As a close-knit, focused business, Tricia and the team operate from their office in Cramlington, Newcastle.

“I started Metro Rod (North East) in 1999 with one engineer and one person in the office. There has been constant, steady growth, with staff development and training at the heart of our operations. As an employer, I’m keen to recruit from the local community whether for management, administration or engineer positions.” (Tricia Craig, Franchise Owner)

Each of our engineers is highly trained and qualified with full DBS checks and insurance. They regularly undertake in-depth training, both internally and externally, to ensure they keep up to date with the latest health and safety requirements. As part of the wider Metro Rod Ltd group, we’re also proud to hold multiple industry accreditations such as Alcumus Safe Contractor, Achilles and more.

We understand the importance of great customer service and take care of our customers from the moment of initial contact through to resolution of their drainage problem, and continue communicating with our customers after the job has been completed.

Metro Rod (North East) Recent Work:

Below are a few examples of our recent pump station work and how we can help your business keep its water and waste flowing.

Major Pump Service:

Due to re-occurring emergency callouts, we provided a quote for our customer to conduct a major service and identify the cause of the re-occurring problems in order to prevent disruption to the business and save on costs.

We arrived on site with a large volume combination tanker, specialist pump engineer and combined space equipment. Once all the barriers were set up, our engineers used the tanker to remove the waste from the pump station and then entered the pump chamber using their confined space training and specialist equipment. They were then able to strip down the non-return valves, re-grease them, clean the surface lines, and remove oily waste from the system.

Testing was then carried out and the engineers identified a backflow into the sewage pump station. They conducted tracing to find the block and found a catch pit blocked with silt and roots. Using high-pressure water jetting from the combination tanker, they cleared the blockage and ensured the pump was working in optimal condition.

Major Repairs to Two Pump Stations Following a Service:

During an initial service visit, we identified the drain pump had failed and the control panel was in disrepair. We discussed the problem with the customers and arranged for repairs to take place. When arriving on-site to conduct the repairs, we arrived with our specially equipped pump vans and a tanker, then set to work isolating the main power supply to the pump. Once isolated, the pump chamber was emptied and cleaned using the combi-tanker first to suck out the wastewater and then clean using its high-pressure water jetting functionality. Following this, we removed all faulty equipment from service and installed new pumps, float brackets and all fixings. A new control panel was also installed.

Once work was completed, we refilled the pump station to carry out testing to ensure the pumps were working and back to full operation.
