Metro Rod Sussex’s drainage services in detail:

24/7 emergency call-outs

Drainage emergencies can happen at any time. Our 24/7 emergency call-out service ensures that you receive prompt and professional assistance whenever you need it, minimising damage and disruption.

Drain unblocking

Our expert team specialises in unblocking drains of all types, from toilets to sinks and everything in between. We use advanced tools to remove even the toughest blockages quickly and effectively.

High-Pressure water jetting

Our high-pressure water jetting service effectively clears debris and build-up from your drains, ensuring a smooth and efficient flow.

Drain repairs

Our drain repair covers both no-dig repairs and excavations. We use the latest tools and equipment to provide pipelining repairs without the need for expensive excavations. Where there’s a collapsed drain and a repair is not possible, we can also excavate and replace the drain pipe.

CCTV Drain Surveys

CCTV drain surveys can detect drainage problems before they have the chance to become costly and inconvenient issues. Our CCTV drain surveys use the latest iTouch cloud-based system with high-resolution videography and charting technology that provide accurate and in-depth footage and reports, allowing us to help you identify issues and keep your drains in good working condition.

Tanker services

Our drainage tankers are equipped for jetting and vacuuming meaning we can clear stubborn blockages, and also provide septic tank emptying, grease trap emptying, flood water removal and more.

Grease Trap Emptying and FOG Management

It is illegal to release FOG into the sewage system and strict regulations govern how FOG can be disposed of. We can help businesses manage their FOG and ensure that it is disposed of in an environmentally sound manner.

Pump Services

Pump maintenance, pump installations and pump repairs tailored to your business’ needs. We also provide a cost-effective pre-planned maintenance program. Your pumps are an expensive and critical asset where we can help extend their useful life.

Preventative Drain Maintenance

Also known as Pre-planned Maintenance, regular maintenance is key to preventing costly drainage issues. Our preventative maintenance services ensure your drainage systems remain in excellent condition, reducing the risk of future problems and emergency call-outs.

Gutter Clearance

We use the latest sky-vac technology that eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming high-access equipment such as ladders and towers. Using the powerful vacuum, carbon fibre suction poles and accessories, one engineer can efficiently clear stubborn blocked gutters up to 40ft high while working safely from the ground. We will also provide you with a CCTV survey of the condition of your gutters and proof that they have been properly cleaned.

Recent Examples of Our Drainage Solutions:

Genuine 24/7 Service and First-Time Fix

Emergency call-out by our client at 8 o’clock on a Friday evening as the ground floor ladies’ toilets were blocked. Despite the storm creating 30mm of rainfall, our engineer attended the site. The high level of surface water only made the situation worse. The engineer was able to clear the blockage due to the high quality of new equipment our vans carry as standard. This included a large Electro-Mechanical Cleaning equipment which augured the line from the air admittance valve. We then flushed the line clean from the external manhole with a High-Pressure Water Jet. Full flow was restored and the engineer left the site at 22:00.

Sewage Overflowing Requiring a Quick Drain Unblock:

If you’re looking for expert drain unblocking in Sussex, look no further. We recently responded to an urgent call from a national client dealing with a severe sewage backup issue. Sewage had backed up from the toilets spreading over 50 meters across both the first and second floors of their shop. The backup was caused by a blocked stack pipe, also known as a soil stack.

Our team swiftly addressed the problem by accessing the 100mm stack pipe through the men’s toilet and utilised a Spartan 100 cable machine to clear the blockage over 50 meters. After successfully unblocking the drain and ensuring it was flowing freely, we meticulously cleaned up the area, leaving the site spotless.

Bad Smells Coming From Drains Caused by the Rest Bend

If you’re experiencing bad smells in drains it could be due to stagnant wastewater or issues with nearby manholes. Our team recently tackled a situation where toxic odours were emanating from a problematic rest bend – the drain fitting which connects the vertical stack pipe to the horizontal drainpipe at the bottom. We began by excavating and removing the old rest bend using a 300mm abrasive saw and medium breaker.

A new 6-inch bottle gully was then installed, securely concreted, and backfilled. The newly installed rest bend effectively traps and contains the toxic odours within the pipeline, resolving the issue and ensuring your drains smell fresh and clean.

Removal of Limescale in Hard Water Areas Across Sussex:

Limescale removal is essential for maintaining the efficiency of your drainpipes. Limescale forms when mineral deposits, typically from urine, accumulate in your pipes due to evaporation of water. This buildup occurs particularly in areas with hard water and can significantly reduce pipe diameter by over 50%, obstructing water flow and causing blockages.

Limescale Blocking A Drainpipe On A Toilet

To tackle limescale effectively, we employ advanced technology and machinery, including the Picote vortex cutter and chains. These tools ensure precise and safe limescale removal without damaging your pipes. After removing the limescale, we use a high-pressure water jet (HPWJ) to flush the line thoroughly, restoring optimal water flow and leaving your pipes clean and clear.

Removing an Unusual Blockage:

If you’re noticing your drains flowing slower, or a foul smell, it normally means your drains are blocked. Our client had repeated blockages in their 100mm foul line, which was causing sewage to back-up into the toilets.

We opened the line, drained the water and investigated with a CCTV camera to identify a large foreign object stuck in the line, causing the troublesome blockage.

CCTV identified a phone

We retrieved the object, which was a mobile phone someone had flushed down the line, not something you normally find down a drain!

We then cleaned the line with a picote vortex cutter and chains to ensure the line was clean and clear, allowing full flow to be restored to their drains.

Flooded Bank Vault

We received an emergency call-out as the client’s basement and bank vault was flooding. On arrival we found the water level at 4 inches and rising which was due to a broken external freshwater pipe.

Flooded Bank

We then investigated why the pump was not working. Following diagnostic tests, it was determined that the pump would need to be replaced.

Failed Pump

Broken pump

The new pump was ordered which would be couriered overnight. We therefore needed to install a temporary sump pump to stop the flooding and drain the water. The water was pumped to a drain in a separate room to the vault using a 10m hose.
