  • The Sewage Water Pump Installation Process

Installing a wastewater pump involves several key steps to ensure it operates efficiently and safely. Here’s the process that the installation specialists at Metro Rod will follow:

    1. Site Preparation: We begin by clearing and levelling the area where the pump will be installed, ensuring the surface is stable to prevent operational issues. The location of the pump needs to be easily accessible for maintenance.

    2. Pump Installation: Once the site is prepared, we make several final checks to ensure the sizing is correct and the pump can handle the rate of flow and potential pressure changes. The pump is then connected to the discharge pipe (rising main) secured in place and tested.

    3. Power Connection: We then safely connect the pump control panel to a suitable power source and the control panel to the pumps and control mechanism. It is then powered on and checked to make sure everything is working correctly.

    4. Pump Testing: Prior to job completion, the pumping station will be commissioned and all necessary paperwork completed.

    Pump Installation FAQs

    What are pumps used for?

Pumps can be used for a variety of different purposes. The main purpose of pumps is to aid with the flow and containment of water. However, pumps have varying functions and are often distinguished by their use e.g., clean water, sewage, sump etc. They can also be used to remove ground water, circulate water, or to help prevent flooding in basements, industrial buildings and commercial outlets.

Can I install a pump myself?

Due to the nature of the pump installation, it is a complex job that requires heavy machinery. For that reason, it’s essential to get any pumps installed by a qualified professional. At Metro Rod, all our engineers are fully qualified, and we work closely with our sister company Willow Pumps to ensure that your pump is installed correctly.

How much does a sewage water pump installation cost?

At Metro Rod, we specialise in effective and cost-effective pump installation. Our job is to ensure that you can do the job that you want to as efficiently as possible. The cost of your pump installation can vary depending on the pump and project. You can contact us today to discuss your project in more detail.

What locations are not suitable for pump installation?

Wastewater pumps can be installed in most locations. However, we have to consider the correct type of pumping station for the location proposed. For example retrofit of pumps inside a building may require an ‘above ground’ and self-contained pumping station.

How long does pump installation take?

The time required to install a sewage water pump can vary based on the type of pump and the complexity of the installation. Our expert engineers can complete the installation in a few hours for simpler setups, while more complex installations may take several days.
